Greek traditional Christmas recipe!

So December already knocked the door. However, didn't bring snow, cold or any inspiration.

Last year I shared with you my x-mas bazaar. This year, trying to get into the Christmas spirit, I will share with you a Greek traditional x-mas recipe!

We will make melomakarona!

What we need:
  1. 3 cups of a light olive oil
  2. 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
  3. 1/2 cup brandy
  4. 1 1/2 cups caster sugar
  5. 1kg plain flour, sifted
  6. 1 tsp baking powder
  7. orange and lemon zest
  8. 1/2 tsp grated cinnamon
  9. 1/2 tsp grated clove
For the syrup:
  1. 2 cups of water
  2. 2 cups of sugar
  3. 2 cups of good-quality honey
  4. cinnamon stick
  5. lemon slice and juice
  6. finely chopped walnuts
What to do:

Step 1
Whisk the olive oil, the orange juice, the brandy and the sugar in a large bowl.
Add the rest and when everything is well combined, add the flour. When the dough does not stick to our hands, it's ready.
Step 2
Place, about 4cm apart, on the prepared trays. Use a fork to flatten.
Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden.
Step 3
Meanwhile, place all the syrup ingredients in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Increase heat to high. Bring to the boil. Boil for 5 minutes or until syrup thickens. Set aside to cool slightly.
Step 4
Remove the melomakarona from the oven. Pour over the syrup. Set aside on the trays, turning once, for 20 minutes to infuse. Transfer the biscuits to a serving plate. Top with the walnut to serve and tadaaaaaaa!!Melomakarona for everybody!!!! You should have something that looks like that:

Enjoy and try not to eat them all! :)
